Community Chest
Inner West Courier launches the 2009 Marrickville Metro Community Chest
Marrickville Metro, along with centre Ambassador Sophie Falkiner, is aiming to make 2009 just that little bit easier on the finances for eight charities, sports or community groups, by establishing a community chest for their benefit.
The Marrickville Metro Community Chest aims to assist during these hard economic times, by providing $1000 Prepaid Visa Card grants to groups that support, promote or keep the community active. There is a $1,000 Prepaid Visa Card grant to be awarded each month for eight months, from April until November…a total of $8,000!
“There’s a lot of talk around people and organisations’ tightening their financial belts in the coming year, so the Community Chest could be a welcome relief for many groups over the coming months,” said Sophie Falkiner, Ambassador for Marrickville Metro.
Sue Wright, Centre Manager of Marrickville Metro said “Our aim is to help eight community organisations over the next eight months through our Community Chest program. Marrickville Metro is a key part of Marrickville’s Community and we’re very happy to be able to support those groups that play a central role for the people that live here.”
